Search Engines

While it’s tempting to book directly with hotels and airlines (and we often do), using an OTA (online travel agencies) allows for better cancellation policies, (often) a price guarantee, and you can easily compare all your options side by side on one platform. You can book just about every travel reservation possible on these sites and bundle for added discounts. These are our favorites;

  • Expedia - There is a reason it’s one of the most popular travel procurement websites worldwide. We find Expedia offers excellent reward programs and finds the smartest value overall.

  • Booking.com - Focuses on smaller local hotel brands, European transportation and even offers restaurant reservations on OpenTable.com. Booking offers more expansive availability than other OTAs, vetted reviews and a great cancellation policy. Additionally we find their map feature is the best around.

Airfare Resources

  • Skyscanner - This search and recommendation aggregator pushes out to the best options in airfare. You can also set up a price alert email, instead of scouring the internet everyday for the lowest price, this handy tool will let you know via email or through their downloadable app. when prices changes on the destinations you have flagged.

  • Momondo - Some say this is the best kept secret in travel. Particularly wonderful for cheap flights, flexible dates and searching Southwest Airlines — which most search engines do not have access to.
